Volunteer with VYFS

Vashon Youth and Family Services has a number of volunteer opportunities each year. Ringing bells during the holidays, participating at special events, selling raffle tickets, helping make decorations, even on occasion walking a sheep around town - each of these activities helps us meet our fundraising goals. Volunteer positions include:

Become a Board Member: 2-3 hours per month, on average, Board meetings are held from 6:30-8:30 on the fourth Monday of the month (at VYFS conference room). Learn more.

FESS Parent Advisory Council (PAC): The Family Education and Support Services program (FESS) has a Parent Advisory Council made up of parent's who access the Family Place groups and services.  We need PAC  members to attend quarterly meetings, support the program in the community and provide feedback  about the Family Place programming to the Program Manager. 1-2 hours per month on average.

Family Place Childcare Volunteers: Support our main Childcare Provider by playing with children, helping with snack, and/or tidying up space.  Training to provide care for children is provided.  Childcare is Friday morning 9:30-12:30, Friday and Saturday evenings 4-8 pm. 4-16 hours per month as desired.

Landscaping / Maintenance Volunteer: Perform various maintenance tasks needed at the VYFS Agency office. Experience preferred. Hours vary as desired.

Sheepdog Trials Volunteers: Volunteer to handle admissions at the front gate or sell merchandise. 2018 marked the third year of VYFS' participation in the Sheepdog Trials. Shifts are generally 2-4 hours long.

Holiday Bell Ringing: Join this family friendly holiday tradition and ring the holiday bells for VYFS outside Thriftway and IGA. We provide elf accessories and bells, you bring your holiday spirit and good cheer!
