Budget Cut Busting
Fall Donation Campaign
Please join us today by donating to our Budget-Cut-Busting Fall Giving Campaign 2025!
Together, we can protect and strengthen the safety net that keeps our community thriving.
With so many challenges facing our community, Vashon Youth & Family Services (VYFS) is here to ensure that every Islander has access to support, connection, and care — especially those who face the greatest barriers.
The Current Skinny on Budget Cuts
As we look ahead, we face a new challenge: state and King County budget shortfalls have already reduced the Medicaid and non-Medicaid reimbursements VYFS receives for counseling and substance use services — even as youth counseling needs have risen by 81%. While we’ve secured some replacement funding, we also know that additional federal cuts are coming.
For almost 50 years, VYFS has played a vital role in Vashon’s social safety net. We will continue to partner with local businesses, and partner organizations to ensure that Island families, children, teens and adults are supported, connected to care, and are able to meet their basic needs.
