Slade is currently serving as Superintendent of Vashon Island School District. He lives on Vashon with his wife, Kelli, and his two sons, Hank and Gus who are currently at Vashon High School. Slade's career in education started almost 30 years ago in Southern California as a middle school math and science teacher. Since then, he spent 15 years as an elementary, middle, and high school counselor as well as many years in both building and district leadership roles. He believes that it is a privilege to be able to work in schools and is humbled by the incredible staff he gets to work with and support each day. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, running, backpacking, cooking, playing piano, and working outside.
