Counseling Groups

Vashon Youth and Family Services offers counseling groups for all Islanders. Check the details of each group to determine eligibility. Groups are ongoing unless a specific end date is posted. 

Grief Group

  • Group Leader:

  • Time: Wednesdays at 6:00 PM

A group for individuals to support each other through the journey of grief and loss. This group runs in the Conference Room at the VYFS Main Office. This group is open to all, with no need to register. The cost is free, and donations are accepted. Drop-ins are welcome.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Group

  • Group Leader: Dan Cummings

  • Time: Tuesdays at 6:00 PM

This group offers VYFS clients the opportunity to explore DBT methods, delving into the transactions and responses between Individuals and the outside world. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Outpatient Group

  • Group Leader: Diane Hopkins

  • Time: Mondays and Thursdays, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The SUD group meets twice weekly and is open to clients currently enrolled in the SUD treatment program. To attend this group, a client must first complete an SUD intake with the program leader.
