VYFS Announces Sale of Gorsuch Road Building

Playspace programs to continue serving Island Families

Programs will continue to support Island families to raise thriving, resilient children.

Programs will continue to support Island families to raise thriving, resilient children.

Today we mark the end of an era for the Playspace early parent support program. Since 2011, we have offered our family education and support services out of the Playspace building on SW Gorsuch Road and VashonHighway. Today we have placed the building on the market. The Board of Directors came to this decision after long months of discussion and consultation with staff.

We want to be perfectly clear that while the building will be sold, Playspace programming – including drop in play, Play N Learn and Play and Chat groups, Parents Night Out and Incredible Years, and many other services – will continue. We are working with staff and our realtors to find a suitable rental spot that will continue to provide young families a nurturing space while decreasing our overhead costs. If you would like to learn more, you are welcome to read this copy of a letter we sent to our capital campaign donors.

We welcome your memories of the Playspace years at the SW Gorsuch Road property. Please visit our Facebook page to leave your memories, photos, and comments.

We are grateful to have been able to support young Vashon families through the Gorsuch building and we look forward to more days ahead doing this work that we love. Thank you for your support.
